If you are a current student, you can take advantage of our successful Student Program and become a Co-op Student, Intern Student, or Summer Student (Developmental or Non-Developmental Student), gaining valuable work experience during your term here.
Whichever you choose, you will gain valuable experience and an insight into a career at OPG. Please visit the following brochure to get more information on the Student Program and the Process to Apply for a position here at OPG.
Co-op Students
As a Co-op
Student, you will find out first-hand
what it's really like working in a large corporation
that is part of a rapidly growing industry. You'll
be given projects that will allow you to grow
personally and professionally, as well the opportunity
to network with fellow students and be mentored
by highly qualified professionals. If you are
enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited
college or university and are interested in a
career that fulfills a need at OPG, you could
be doing real work and earning a real salary
while you learn an invaluable lesson with us.
To apply, you will need to put
together a cover letter and résumé
that outline your objectives and experience, and
how your skills, interests and coursework would
make you a prime candidate for a position at OPG.
Once you have done that, contact your university
or college Co-op Program Administrator, check
our virtual
career centre on this site frequently for
the latest job postings and prepare to attend
one of our many on-campus
events. When a job comes up that matches your
skills, we will contact you and arrange an interview
with an OPG Manager or Hiring Supervisor. They
will assess your knowledge and skills and determine
how you would fit in and what you can offer us.
You must have a definite objective in mind and
be able to provide good reasons as to why we should
offer you a job.
Below is our typical on-campus
recruiting calendar.
Summer
Term: January
Fall Term: May
Winter Term: September
Intern Students
Intern Students are generally recruited to begin employment with us in May; postings are typically available at our website in November/December. As an Intern, you spend 12 -15 months gaining work experience that is directly related to your major field of study and proved hands-on experience. Interns are usually hired into our engineering and production-related areas and opportunities are thus limited to Students enrolled in engineering or related studies. Interns are recruited through University Career Centres and usually following completion of 3rd year of studies.
Summer Students
Developmental Students will typically perform work related to their field of study during the summer term.
Non-Developmental Students are usually hired during the summer term and perform a variety of tasks (including Administrative, Clerical and Janitorial), and are not typically related to the student's field of study.
