What You GetLearning EverydayThe learning doesn’t stop after graduation! Our commitment to training is engrained in our culture. We believe that training is key to having safe, happy and productive employees. Our Trainee Program comprises of both formal and on-the-job training that assists with immediate career or job goals and long-term developmental activities. These results are largely fostered through your mentor and immediate supervisor who play a significant role in your professional development process. Meet Great PeopleOPG’s 11,000 employees form the cornerstone of the company’s strength, and we are proud of their contributions. Amongst our diverse, highly dedicated and dynamic group of individuals are senior, tenured professionals who mentor newer recruits, preparing them for the many growth and advancement opportunities. Grads benefit from this knowledge transfer and can use it to springboard into a wide range of career opportunities available. In addition, past grads have developed their own broad community at OPG, contributing to great friendships and fun! The OPG Deal – Balance, Benefits and FUN!Way beyond a great place to work, our organization supports a host of community events, sports teams, volunteer efforts and special interest groups. In the CommunitySports TeamsOPG has co-ed employee hockey, slo-pitch, curling, soccer, football and basketball teams. In addition, many of our sites have fitness facilities for employee use. Note: Sports, teams and fitness facilities vary depending on location. Volunteer EffortsOPG prides itself in being a good corporate citizen. Our employees are active participants in community-based initiatives and projects. Whether they are representing OPG or involved in an initiative of their own choosing, our employees dedicate countless hours of volunteer time annually. We believe these volunteer activities benefit the community, the company, and the individuals involved. In addition, many of our volunteer activities are directly aimed at improving our environment. For example, we continued to implement our biodiversity program, planting 300,000 native trees in ecologically strategic locations. Since the spring of 2000, OPG has planted 2.5 million trees on 1,100 hectares. This is largely driven through the efforts of OPG volunteers who spend their personal time on these efforts. Special Interest GroupsSocial Club NetworksWe have social clubs at all our major operating facilities and corporate office. These volunteer employee groups are responsible for organizing fun activities in the local community. Past events include open houses, ski events, boat cruises and charity fundraisers.
