Career Paths – What’s next after the Grad Trainee Program?

“We have many retiring employees. The new grads are going to come in to take those positions. They will be the leadership of the organization moving forward.”

- Mark Arnone, Director – Projects & Modifications

There isn't a typical career at OPG. You define your career by working hard, building your knowledge and expertise and achieving your goals.

Whether you are a trainee in a corporate group, Nuclear, Hydro or Fossil, the opportunities for advancement are endless. New recruits generally take one of two career streams at OPG:

Technical/Specialist Stream:

Once you have completed the Trainee Program, your long-term career path may be towards specializing in a certain field or system. For example, past trainee’s have landed roles as Financial Analysts, Technical Engineer/Officer roles or Systems Specialist.

Management & Supervisory Stream:

Our Trainee Program offers a good foundation for a variety of career options at the supervisory level. While some additional coaching and professional development may be necessary, many of our trainees work towards senior positions which involve staff, budget and strategy accountability. In fact, a large percentage of our current senior executive team started their careers in the Trainee Program!
