A Human Resources Intern within the Talent Management team at OPG’s Head Office, Jason has a double major – Commerce and Administration, and Native Studies – and is the recipient of a $4,000 John Wesley Beaver Memorial Award. Two such awards are granted each year by OPG to post-secondary students (one male, one female) of Native ancestry whose qualifications include involvement in extracurricular activities, and a demonstrated interest in their Native community or a commitment to Native culture and heritage. Jason is particularly proud of this award because he feels that Jack Beaver, a WWII fighter pilot of Ojibway descent, who subsequently held many engineering and management positions at OPG’s predecessor, Ontario Hydro, exemplified many of the personal and professional qualities he admires. At OPG, Jason has organized and attended many learning events for Co-op and Intern students, and urges everyone to take advantage of the learning opportunities available, including your colleagues. He knows from personal experience that many OPG employees have been with the company for many years and in different roles, and love to share their diverse expertise. Jason also finds it rewarding to know that what he does, and what his department does, is significant to the company while giving him valuable business exposure that will help him build a successful career.
