Our Work

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) generates electricity safely and efficiently – powering millions of homes and thousands of businesses across Ontario, through our 65 Hydroelectric (including 29 green-powered), three Nuclear and five Fossil-fuelled generating stations.

OPG currently produces 70 per cent of the electricity consumed in Ontario and we recognize that electricity will continue to be vital to the success of our province. That's why we are refurbishing existing stations and planning to build new generating facilities in the years to come. Of course, the only way to meet this demand is through maintaining a strong organization with the best and brightest people.

Nuclear

If your interest lies in Nuclear power generation and you like the idea of working in a large-scale facility, OPG might be just the right fit for you.

Nuclear is the biggest growth area within OPG right now. We have plenty of opportunities planned for the next decade and beyond.

Working in Nuclear, you may choose to live in Ontario's largest urban centre or in a suburban, country or cottage setting.

Thermal

Are you excited about being part of a large team focused on change? If so, perhaps Fossil-fuelled power generation is right for you.

Our Fossil-fuelled stations are large facilities located across Ontario. Right now is an exciting time to get involved in this area, since our biggest focus here is on sustainable development initiatives and the potential conversion to biomass rather than burning carbon fuels.

Hydroelectric

You will have many options for choosing where to live and work if you pursue a career in Hydroelectric. There are many stations – both large and small – located across Ontario.

Hydroelectric offers a 'family-oriented work environment' where co-workers form many close-knit relationships and become actively involved in their local communities.

New Generation Projects

Are you interested in what's next on the horizon? If so, OPG has several exciting new projects, including the Niagara Tunnel and the construction of two new units on the Darlington Nuclear site.

If you are chosen to work on New Generation Projects at OPG, you may be involved in Nuclear, Hydroelectric or Thermal refurbishments or new Nuclear projects.

Corporate Functions

Corporate Functions at OPG include a vast range of support services, ranging from Finance and Marketing to in-house Graphics and Printing, Human Resources, Health and Safety, Law and Regulatory Affairs, and even Nursing roles in our Wellness program.

These positions are located not only at Toronto Corporate Head Office, but also in offices across the province at our Hydroelectric, Thermal and Nuclear stations.
